Essence of Life Foundation
Last year we donated 5% of our profits to charity and provided our services free of charge to a number of charitable events and organisations. To celebrate our first anniversary we have set up a foundation so that we can utilise all the profits to make more of an impact on social causes.

Glastonbury

We were delighted to have been given the opportunity to provide treatments at the Glastonbury Festival, especially as it was the 40th birthday celebrations. Professionally we picked up new techniques and made contacts which has led to our pending expansion to London. As a bonus, spending so much time in the Healing Fields also lead to journey of personal development...a great overall experience.

A THERAPIST from Runcorn has scooped the Halton New Business Award 2010.  Owner of Essence of Life, complementary medicine practitioner Michelle Herron provides her unique brand of health services to the corporate sector in the Northwest.  She said: 'I am extremely honoured and proud to have won the Halton New Business Award 2010, as it is recognition of the journey I have been on so far.

'My vision for Essence of Life is to become the largest provider of health services to the corporate sector in the Northwest and winning the award will further raise our profile.' 'Raised in Runcorn, I became a single parent at a young age, but determined to be successful I undertook A levels and in 2000 completed a diploma in Holistic Therapies.' 'I then worked as a therapist some evenings and weekends to gain experience whilst holding down a full time job to provide for my daughter.'

In 2005, Michelle was approached by Arriva Northwest to provide corporate health days on a freelance basis. In the same year, she undertook a BSc degree in Complementary Medicine and Health Sciences and in 2008 graduated with first honours.

Essence of Life launched last year, aims to reduce sickness in the workplace. It is an emerging market due to recommendations from bodies such as Investors in People, which encourages businesses to implement health and wellbeing in the workplace. Michelle added: 'Our focus is on stress and back pain, utilising massage, reflexology, postural re-alignment and relaxation techniques. The services implemented are measurable and effective.'.
